The national telecommunications regulation agency (ANRT), released this Tuesday 26 July, the 2016 second quarter telecommunications market report. The report confirms the rumors of decrease in subscribers which has reduced to 41.43 million recording a drop of 1.48% compared to June 2015. ANRT’s latest statistics confirms Maroc Telecom’s place as the leading with a market share of 43.79%, followed by Meditel (31.8%) and Wana corporate (24.41%). It highlights that the average revenue per minute from mobile phones, registered a decrease of 23% over an annual rhythm, which explains the fall in communication tariffs including promotions. Note that the comparing season was marked by the generalization offers of unlimited packages at lower prices (From 199dh), which can explain the fall of ARPU. Concerning the internet, the number of subscribers pursues its positive increase to reach 14.8 million, an increase of 32.24% compared to June 2015. The penetration rate is at 43.98%.
ANRT highlights the important increase of ADSL subscribers which after many years registered a successive decrease, but seems to inverse the trend. It register an increase of 11.69%.
