The new bypass of Rabat highway inaugurated on the 7th July over a stretch of 42 km is distinguished by its Cable-stayed bridge which is the biggest of its kind in Africa. But this masterpiece has a “Moroccan touch”, this is distinguished by the metallic canopy of the barrier of this highway’s toll which is the work of Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou, and the execution of Moroccan enterprise Inter tridim. The fruit of this collaboration is this metallic works which is 100meters long on the roof, more than 7.5 meters in height, 5.5 meters at the center, 300 tons metallic structure roofing and covering with pre-lacquered steel and other innovative characteristics which particularizes this technical performance as exceptional. The metallic canopy stands on three pillars. Moreover, the thickness of the roofing doesn’t pass 1.1 meters, thought by the designer, a technical challenge in terms of size which was overcame thanks to special beam fabrication which allows to realize special customized streamline. By this masterpiece, Hicham Lahlou only confirms his place as a world class designer who remains in the service of his country.
