CGEM mobilizes a Task Force for its COP22 program

CGEM has mobilized a Task Force for its COP22 program. This program will be conducted under a partnership agreement signed last Friday, September 19, 2016, between the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change organization committee of and CGEM. The said agreement was initialed by Miriem Bensalah Chaqroun, President of the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco and Abdeladim Lhafi, Commissioner of COP22.

According to CGEM, this agreement « defines the contribution of CGEM in the context of the COP22-CMP12 organization by the Kingdom of Morocco, to be held in Marrakech from the 7th to 18th November ».

It should be remembered that the ecological aspect within CGEM owes to the circumstances of holding COP22 in Morocco. Indeed, the employers’ confederation, with a « Climate, energy and green economy» commission and a « Moroccan center for clean production », is strongly committed to environmental matters, importance of climate issues and opportunities they’ve represented for the private sector in the past. That said, several actions have been initiated to strengthen the backing of companies in this sense since COP 21. These actions, as highlighted by Miriem Bensalah Chaqroun, « are accompanied and sanctioned by recommendations. Since last year, we have been collecting all the recommendations that were subject of debates and consultations in order to participate in negotiations with content ».

It is therefore clear that CGEM is mobilizing all its resources and expertise to underline its participation in COP22. In this sense, and in order to « drive CGEM’s ambitious program during the COP22, a task force has been mobilized, chaired by Bensalah Chaqroun. It brings together more than 23 experts and personalities with proven expertise in issues related to the environment and climate ».

It should be emphasized at the end that this ambitious program will have a budget of around 20 million dirhams, contributed by sponsors of CGEM as well as other partners. According to Bensalah Chaqroun, 12 million dirhams have already been received.

  1. Linda my exneirepce has been first come first serve to the buses. The earliest bus leaves Wilson Park at 5:40PM. No umbrellas is correct. Maybe a towel to wipe the bench before you sit. Also this is a lease event so no alcohol and no glass or aluminum containers regardless of contents. I hope the rain holds off for you.
