Green Banking is in the heart of debates in Morocco. Indeed, a few weeks before the COP22, the BMCE Bank of Africa Group organized October 12, 2016 in its head office, in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), a Forum on ” support the emergence of a green financial market in Africa. ” This event brought together numerous representatives of regulatory authorities and commercial banks, African countries and financial development institutions and international donors.
The aim of this meeting is to lay the groundwork for development on the African Continent, a true African banking market that meets the criteria of sustainability and beyond a financial market “green.”
The Forum was an opportunity to highlight the crucial role of commercial banks in the emergence of green finance and demonstrate, through the testimonies of advanced African banking institutions in this area, that Sustainable Finance is creating wealth and jobs for both the financial system and for businesses and citizens. It also highlighted the necessary support in this process, regulatory and supervisory authorities and financial development institutions.
