This program will be conducted under a partnership agreement signed last Friday, September 19, 2016, between the Committee for the organization of the 22th Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the CGEM . The said agreement was initialed by Miriem CHAQROUN Bensalah, President of the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco and Abdeladim Lhafi, Commissioner of COP22.
This agreement, according to CGEM “defines the contribution of CGEM to the organization of the COP22-CMP12 by the Kingdom of Morocco , to be held in Marrakech from 7 to 18 November 2016.”
The environmental aspects within the CGEM is not just due to the fact that the COP22 will be held in Morocco. Indeed, the employers confederation, with a Commission “Climate, energy and green economy” and a “Moroccan Centre for clean production ” is strongly committed to environmental issues, the importance of climate issues and opportunities that they bring to the private sector for many years. That said, since COP 21, many actions have been initiated to strengthen the accompaniment of Companies in this direction. These actions as highlighted Miriem CHAQROUN Bensalah, “are all accompanied and sanctioned as per recommendations. Since last year, we are collecting all the recommendations that were the subject of debate and consultations so that we can participate in negotiations with content ”
It is therefore clear that the CGEM is mobilizing all its resources and expertise to mark its participation in the COP22. In this sense, and in order to support the ambitious program of the CGEM during the COP22, a task force was mobilized, chaired by Bensalah CHAQROUN. It brings together more than 23 experts and personalities with proven expertise in matters related to the environment and climate.
It is emphasized that this ambitious program will have a budget of some 20 million dirhams contributed by sponsors of the CGEM and other partners. According Bensalah CHAQROUN 12 million dirhams have already been acquired.
