Organized by the Agency for Agricultural Development (ADA) and the Adaptation Fund (AF), the workshop dedicated to climate finance for Implementation Entities of countries in the MENA region opened proceedings yesterday 06 September. The meeting, which hosts national and international experts on climate, civil society and representatives of departments and national government agencies, will conclude its work on Thursday, September 8, 2016.
The launch of the three-day meeting was initiated by Akhanouch Aziz, Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fishing and Marcia Levaggi, executive director of the Adaptation Fund.
The workshop is devoted to the presentation and discussion of the opportunities and direct access modalities of countries in the MENA financial resources to the Adaptation Fund, in perspective to allow these countries to implement programs and concrete projects for adaptation to climate change.
The Agency for Agricultural Development has been accredited by the Adaptation Fund in 2012 and the Green Climate Fund in 2016. These accreditations of ADA devote the concrete results of measures in the Green Morocco Plan for adaptation to climate change. In this sense, during the workshop, ADA’s mission is to share the Moroccan experience of the Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fishing with countries in the MENA region for the actions and measures undertaken in adaptation to climate change and present operational modalities of support in favor of entities from other countries who seek for accreditation with the adaptation fund and for their support in engineering green projects.
