Indeed, responding to one of our questions about the expectations of African countries during the COP22 regarding the financial aspect in the fight against global warming, Abdellatif Jouahri Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) gave us the following statement: ” for now the conditions have been reached for the entry into force of the Paris Agreement. Several funds exist in developed countries, but Morocco is trying, in partnership with Germany to set up a platform, to at least know what the conditions are; the amount and areas concerned that we do not know. Secondly, we must not be content with a North-South aid. Now we have to set up South-South assistance mechanisms; especially between Morocco and Africa. That’s why we’re committed to the COP22 and its Scientific Committee in order to establish a roadmap in funding. We are in the process of finalizing it so that when holding the COP22, and during the day reserved for the financial issue, ie November 16, we can discuss the roadmap and finalize it in order to have, on the financing side, in the Marrakech declaration “.
