Little electric car

The future of automobile is electricity; say some industry experts. It is in this spirit that the International University of Rabat, as part of its efforts for the promotion of electric mobility in Morocco, organized yesterday September 27, the second edition of the workshop in electric mobility “Welmo: Workshop on Electric Mobility “with the participation of renowned scientific, industrial and institutional stakeholders . The main theme of this year: Electric Vehicles and Charging Infrastructure: Deployment and Smart Grid. This event is supported by IRESEN, SIE, and Industrie du Maroc.

According to the UIR, “after a long journey through the desert, electric cars are beginning to position themselves in many countries. In Morocco the potential of the electric car is very high. And there is a global interest for both the buyer and the whole community. ”

For the UIR, organizer of the Workshop, “the challenge is to promote a philosophy and environmental policy through the electric vehicle. This is what will allow the development of a coherent ecosystem, infrastructure and conditions for the utilization of the mobility concept”. According to the UIR, “the COP22 could create a marketing environment quite favorable to the promotion of these vehicles and will likely mutate increasingly towards the electric (car) in the coming years.”

This meeting saw the intervention of several experts on the themes on the order of the day. Mr. Joeri Van Mierlo, University professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and director of the mobility center, logistics and automotive described aspects of mobility according to the way it’s launching worldwide. Mr. Roy Francis representative of the auto manufacturer, PSA group , shed light on the development of electric car and also the implementation strategy of the OpenLab PSA@Morocco “sustainable mobility for Africa”. Ahmed Baroudi Director General of SIE presented electromobility as a national issue before all, and he outlined the role of the SIE in this area, as one of proponents of electric mobility in the Kingdom: urban public transport Marrakech, electric mobility …. For his part Mr. Rachid Smidi CEO of the Marita group, A Moroccan company active in the field of real estate, industry and promotion of sustainable mobility technologies and energy efficiency, the promotion of electric vehicles connected in the region of MENA and Africa, developed a pragmatic and entrepreneurial approach with the deepening of the future of charging infrastructures and the different deployment strategies. Ms. Benabdelaziz Kawtar state Engineer in Mechatronics: automotive specialty at IRESEN, discussed the importance of the development of electric vehicles and smart grids in Morocco. Finally Mounir Bakkali, an electrical and industrial automation engineer, and the sales director at Schneider Electric presented the strong commitment of this global specialist in energy management, in reducing carbon emissions through the promotion of various innovative solutions including electric mobility.
