Morocco and Boeing just signed a historic agreement for the creation of a Boeing aviation ecosystem. The event took place today at the Royal Palace in Tangier, with the presence of His Majesty King Mohamed VI. A shot of great master that has been accomplished the ministry under the leadership of Moulay Hadil Elalamy who signed the agreement with the president of Boeing “Commercial Airplanes’ Raymond L. Conner.
The agreement stipulates the creation of an ecosystem of Boeing in conjunction with local suppliers. The project with a budget estimated at one billion dollars will allow Morocco improve its position in the global aerospace supply chain. The project will create 8,700 new skilled jobs and promote the installation of 120 Boeing suppliers in Morocco. Ultimately, this project is expected to increase Morocco’s exports in the aeronautics field by about a billion dollars.
Why has Boeing finally decided to settle in Morocco via this major project, knowing that this US giant is a demanding operator? The answer comes from the horse’s mouth; Raymond L. Corner said, “we have already seen with our own eyes the unique opportunities offered by Morocco to the aerospace subcontractors to reduce costs while producing large aeronautical products of good quality. ”
In his part, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy in his address to His Majesty King Mohamed VI said that “the sector has increased by 6 in 10 years and has 121 players as per the moment (…) The kingdom, which ranked 15th in terms of aeronautics investments, was able to integrate a closed circle of countries operating in this sector. ” He added that, “the Boeing locomotive ecosystem will be to aviation sector, what Renault and PSA locomotives ecosystems were to the automotive sector, a real accelerator […]. After choosing Morocco through its association with RAM and Safran in 2001, to create the MATIS factory, Boeing opts again for the kingdom, and crosses a new step, ten times larger, building its ecosystem. ”
We can say from now on that the aeronautic sector is ready to take off for good!
