The 8th edition of Agricultural Assembly was held on Monday 27 April at Meknes, on the eve of the 10th edition of the International Exhibition of Agriculture in Morocco (SIAM), in the presence of Senegal President Macky Sall and a significant number of stakeholders representing national and international bodies.
Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Fisheries, under the patronage of King Mohammed IV, Agricultural meetings follows the evolution of the agricultural sector every year, revealing themes consistent with national and international issues.
This year, the foundation helped comeback to the balance sheet and the progress of the Green Morocco Plan, 5 years of maturity in 2020, highlighting the future of Moroccan agriculture and concrete ways make this sector an economic and social locomotive for development of the Kingdom.
Since the advent of the Green Morocco Plan, Morocco has experienced unprecedented dynamic that contributed to a net take-off of added value of the agricultural sector, the annual growth rate recorded an increase of around 7.6 % for the period from 2008 to 2013, against an average of around 4.4% for the rest of the national economy.
Under the theme “Inventing the future of agriculture a project for all” Agricultural Assembly this year is an opportunity to unveil the importance of agriculture for the future, based on many criteria.
Future socioeconomic lever of the Kingdom, tomorrow’s agriculture must indeed be attractive, generating new forms of investments, protecting and guaranteeing improved conditions and living standards of rural people, and a leader of innovations, placing R&D at the heart of its concerns.
